“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4).
Who doesn’t love the 23rd Psalm? We all love the idyllic scene of the good shepherd tending, loving, protecting his sheep.
But that’s not why I love this psalm. The verse that comforts me the most from this Psalm is the fourth verse. I find this comforting is because of how real this verse is. This is the world I live in, not the idyllic world.
Look where the psalmist is physically, emotionally, spiritually located – the darkest valley, the valleys of the shadows of death. God never promised that we would not see dark valleys or find ourselves in the shadows of death. What God does promise is that EVEN THERE, GOD IS THERE! There is never a there, where God is not there!
That is my comfort and strength. I don’t live in an idyllic world. I live in a world where havoc sometimes seems to reign. And I stand firm, because God there.
We must accept this time, so why not use it to thank and appreciate what God has done In Your life, if we can find the positive in little things, we can overcome the big seemingly oppressive ones. I love the lord my God with all of my heart and soul. This time too shall pass.
