“Return, faithless people” (Jeremiah 3:14).

These three words capture the entirety of the gospel, the good news.

Return

• God pursues. God chases. God invites. God initiates. God calls.

Faithless people

• God pursues, invites, calls faithless people!

God doesn’t wait for us to get our life together before God pursues us with his grace and mercy. God initiates contact and calls those who are faithless. God pursues those who have chosen to reject him. God invites those who are deserving of God’s wrath and judgment to receive grace and mercy.

This is the gospel. This is the good news.

This is why you and I have hope in Christ. God loves sinners. God invites sinners.

We love, because he first loved us.
