Anxiety? Nah!

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstance; for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

Why be anxious when we can pray?

The very essence of anxiety is pride imagining we know better than God. That’s ludicrous! If God is for us, fear is irrational. God’s got this. That’s all we need to know.

So what is the secret to rejoicing always, giving thanks in all circumstances?

The pathway is prayer.

Pray and let God handle it.

Speaking of prayer…did you know that there is a group that gathers in the sanctuary library on Sunday mornings at 9:30am to pray for the Sunday worship, for our world, city, and congregation?

It’s a great way to start of the Sunday. Pray. Fellowship. Worship.

See you there!

God’s Word is All We Need

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12)

God’s word is all we need. We don’t need more revelation. We don’t need new revelation.

What we do need is to seek to know, understand, and love the scriptures more. We already have everything we need in the Bible God has given us.

Small Groups are still signing up. They will begin the first week of October. There is no better way to dive deeper into the Sunday scriptures than the Small Groups.

God’s Word is all we need.

Sin and the Believer

“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11).

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

There is absolutely, categorically, no way Jose-ly (I made that up), God makes room for sin in the life of the believer. God does not entertain, accept, and certainly celebrate sin.

The only persons to whom Godly correction sound like and feel like judgment are those who are comfortable in their sin.

Christian, we will struggle with sin until the day we die. We will struggle with sin until God frees us from this flesh.

What a glorious day that will be.

So, if you find yourself uncomfortable with sin in your life…GREAT! It’s supposed to be that way. Keep wrestling. Keep fighting. Keep pursuing God’s holiness.
