“I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land” (Exodus 3:7-8a)
I have observed…
I have heard…
I have come down…
I have come down to deliver them…
I have come down to deliver them to bring them to a good and broad land…
Forget about the Deistic view of the “Unmoved Mover.”
Forget about the about the Aristotelian “First Mover.”
Forget about the grandpa figure sitting up on cloud nine.
The God that the Bible describes is a God who sees, hears, intrudes in order to deliver. And thank God for that! That’s the God I need!
Our God is a God who sends his Son to die for our sins in order that we could live in God’s glory and love forever.
No wonder the responses appropriate to such a God is love, adoration, gratitude, and worship.
