“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The word of God is indispensable for the follower of Jesus Christ. That followers of Jesus love, read, meditate, and memorize God’s word is a given. Loving, reading, meditating, and memorizing God’s word is not for super duper Christians. This is what every follower of Jesus does.
Why?
- Because God’s word is God-breathed. What the word of God says is what God says.
- Because God’s word teaches us the truth.
- Because God’s word rebukes us when we are wrong and when we sin.
- Because God’s word corrects us when we are wrong and when we sin.
- Because God’s word trains us in the fruit of the Spirit.
When the word of God has such a place in the follower of Jesus, such a disciple is fully equipped for every good work.
Think on that – fully equipped for every good work.
Can you imagine a world where this was the norm for every follower of Jesus in the life of the church?
I bet God would change the world through a congregation like that.
God has given us everything we need to live this life and to make “fully equipped for every good work” a reality for every follower of Jesus Christ.
I want to thank you for taking the time to study God’s word with me every morning. Keep at it. Keep studying, reading, meditating, and memorizing God’s word.
Get it in you and watch God’s word change your world.
